Establishing their business in 1996 in the Central West town of Mudgee, Aboriginal husband and wife team Jonathan and Elizabeth Slottje recognised a niche in the market for their liquid-polymer tyre repair product, Tyre Shield™.
While similar imported products were available, Jonathan used his knowledge of the petrochemical industry to develop an environmentally-friendly formula that seals all porous and bead leaks in tube tyres as the vehicle is being driven.
Today over 1,000 Australian stores stock the product and it is exported to Thailand, USA, South Africa and, recently, to New Zealand, and the UK.
Through the Aboriginal Development Program Tyre Shield has increased its export market and in 2009 entered the Asian market place.
