Hunter Advantage Fund
This fund is a NSW Government initiative to increase sustainable employment in the Hunter region.
Assistance provided to successful applicants under the Hunter Advantage Fund is based on the number of new jobs created. Other factors including capital investment, the projects benefits to the region, and its compatibility with the region’s strategic growth plans are also considered.
The aim of the Hunter Advantage Fund is to stimulate investment that will generate new jobs in the Local Government Areas of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Dungog, Upper Hunter, Gloucester, Great Lakes and Port Stephens.
Industry & Invetment NSW may provide assistance towards:
- offsetting business costs that will generate new jobs
- infrastructure costs
- payroll tax, land tax and stamp duty relief.

Illawarra Advantage Fund
This fund was established to attract new industries to the Illawarra and boost business growth in the region. The fund aims to create new and sustainable jobs in the Illawarra.
The fund provides assistance to eligible businesses looking to establish or expand in the region. Assistance is flexible, but geared to securing growth or investment that is unlikely to occur without up-front support and that stands in the way of the project proceding.
Assistance may include contributions towards:
- establishment costs of a business that will generates new jobs
- costs of substantial workforce expansion from an existing base
- infrastructure costs
- payroll tax, land tax and stamp duty relief.
- the cost of engaging external expertise to implement a job generating project
- project facilitation.
