The Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program was announced by the Prime Minister at the Australian Council of Local Government inaugural meeting on 18 November 2008 as part of the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan. Since its inception, the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program has made more than $1 billion available to local government authorities to build and modernise community infrastructure.
At the Australian Council of Local Government meeting on 25 June 2009, the Prime Minister, the Hon Kevin Rudd MP announced additional funding of $220 million for the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.
Guidelines for Round Two of the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program (RLCIP $100 million) and Round Two of the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program - Strategic Projects (RLCIP-SP $120 million) are now available.
