NSW Export Lab a great value-add for SME exporters

13 October 2011

The NSW Export Lab, an initiative introduced by NSW Trade & Investment in January 2011, has proved a winner with clients.

The lab is tailored for new and experienced exporters who want to increase their knowledge of different markets and build their export skills.

Held every month in the Trade and Investment Centre in the Sydney CBD, the NSW Export Lab alternates between two themes: market knowledge and export skills.

Through its Q& A format, the lab is a highly interactive, hands-on workshop, encouraging the participants to drive the discussion and maximise learning from other exporters’ experiences.

More than 300 company representatives have participated in the 10 labs held so far. One in three attendees is a repeat customer.

On 25 October, the lab will explore a skills topic: Team accountability – how to build an export culture in your business.

On 21 November, the lab will explore Navigating your way to export success in India.

Participants have been so positive about the lab that a spin off, a “master lab” for established exporters will be offered later this year.

Due to popular demand, the Export Lab is being rolled out in regional NSW, with the first regional event held in Newcastle on 23 September. A Central Coast event will be held in February 2012.
