First NSW Small Business Commissioner appointed

The NSW Government has appointed respected and experienced business consultant and negotiator Yasmin King as the State’s first Small Business Commissioner.

Ms King will be principal advocate for the State’s 650,000-plus small businesses that comprise over 95 per cent of all businesses employing 1.8 million people.

With a background in economics and finance, Ms King has been a principal consultant with Scotwork Australia – a negotiation skills development and training company – for the past four years. She was also a former Associate Commissioner for the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC) and economics advisor to the Premier of South Australia.

With a strong background in representing the interests of small business, Ms King specialises in the impact of competition policy and regulation of small business.

Ms King has experience in lead negotiator for many state and territory government contracts, providing strategic advice on stakeholder management and tendering processes and probity.

Ms King has a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) and a MBA from the University of Adelaide. She is a Certified Practising Accountant (Fellow) and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
