Markets

A number of Australian agencies, such as Austrade and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), with substantial international resources hold masses of market intelligence on their websites.  With their concurrence, links to these sites are highlighted.

Bilateral Chambers offer information and assistance for companies interested in trading with particular markets.  A listing of these organisations with links to their websites is included in this section.

Tips - Companies should approach exporting logically by starting with a small group of promising markets, then shortlisting down to ones which show real potential.

A possible way of entering some markets may be to export to a third market which would then on-sell to the desired market.

The Department of State and Regional Development has developed detailed briefing material for China available in this section.  Also, market-specific presentations from recent briefings on India and Thailand are provided here.

Watch this space for any future country-specific presentations which will be posted here.

Tip - Developing foreign markets is a long-term commitment. It takes time, effort and resources. Make sure your management is committed to the export venture and be prepared for the long haul.

Do you have any information on this topic that you would like to share with other exporters?   If so, please email your contribution to first@business.nsw.gov.au.
