Trade Shows

Trade Shows provide your business with an opportunity to exhibit your products to new clients.  Trade Shows have the potential to increase your client base, which assists your business to grow and stay in business.  The Department of State and Regional Development supports Aboriginal business' participation in industry Trade Shows.

Criteria

  • At least 50% of the ownership is with Aboriginal persons.
  • Registered Business Name or has/uses an ABN.
  • Operating for two years or more.

Indigenous firms wishing to participate in a Trade Show must write to the Department seeking financial assistance prior to the date of the Trade Show.

Financial support is not guaranteed.

The Department will consider and assess applications based on the criteria, funding available and number of times the business has been supported to attend.

How Much Financial Assistance is Available?

There is a limit of $2,500 financial assistance per firm.  An Aboriginal business can seek up to 75% of participation costs up to a maximum amount of $2,500.  Additional costs are to be met by the Indigenous firm.

Are There Any Requirements or Responsibilities on the Aboriginal Business?

Yes

  • Write to the Department seeking financial assistance prior to the date of the show.
  • Complete and return a compulsory evaluation questionnaire.
  • Adhere to the conditions and rules that the Trade Show sets out for all exhibitors.

Businesses which do not meet the requirements of the Aboriginal Business Link Program as set out here will not be considered for financial support and/or have financial support withdrawn.

How Many Times can a Business Seek Financial Support to Attend a Trade Show?

Financial support to participate in a Trade Show is limited to four times.

After participating in four trade shows a business should have increased its client base and be able to attend a Trade Show without financial support.  Aboriginal businesses are encouraged to access the Aboriginal Business Link Program and use the time they are provided with financial assistance to participate in Trade Shows as an opportunity to build their business.
