Thank you to all attendees and presenters who helped make Home-based Business Week 2008 a great success.
We are in the process of evaluating the Week and will post our results here shortly.

A home-based business is simply a business you operate at or from home, instead of at or from commercial premises. In some cases, all of the business is conducted in the home, and in others only the administrative aspects of the business are carried out in the home.
Operating a business from home has become increasingly prevalent as a result of the digital revolution, outsourcing, the trend towards self-employment and the growth of services industries.
In June 2004, there were 282,400 home-based businesses in NSW, representing 63.8% of NSW small businesses.
Computer and Internet Access
The widespread use by NSW home-based businesses of computers and the Internet continues. Over two-thirds of home-based businesses in the State now use a computer (67.9% in June 2004, up from 61.8% in June 2001), while three in every five businesses are connected to the Internet (59% in June 2004, up from 51.4% in June 2001).
The most common uses of the Internet by home-based businesses are for email and research. However, there has been a continuing trend towards the use of the Internet for making or receiving payments online where the proportion of businesses has increased to 27.8% in June 2004.
Support for HBBs
Home-based business operators tend to face a unique set of challenges in being home-based. With this in mind, the NSW Government has developed a number of initiatives to support and assist home-based businesses:
The online "Homebiz Kit: Grow your business at home", an electronic resource to help start, manage and grow a home-based business.
We also provide a list of Home-Based Business Networks that can potentially offer support and assistance to home-based businesses.
