Review of the Accommodation, Food and Beverage Services Sector
Summary of FindingsFull Report
The Small Business Regulation Review Taskforce has completed its review of the regulatory burden on the accommodation, food and beverage services sector and the Government has endorsed the recommendations of the review. This sector includes businesses ranging from hotels and motels to bed and breakfasts, boarding houses, caravan parks, taverns, bars, cafes, restaurants and licensed clubs.
Representatives of the Australian Hotels Association (NSW), Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW, Clubs NSW, Restaurant and Catering NSW and the Hotel, Motel and Accommodation Association of Australia were included on the Taskforce to assist in the conduct of this review.
The Taskforce believes that the best way to find out about small business regulation is by asking small business owners and operators. The Taskforce, therefore, invited businesses, as well as industry associations, to provide information and ideas about regulatory impacts on the accommodation, food and beverage services sector, in particular about ways in which it could be made easier for businesses to comply with regulation.
