Business Networks

  • Regions with strong networks tend to have strong track records in terms of new business starts and fast growing businesses.

Networking takes many forms, from after work get togethers to informal communication networks that focus on education and business opportunities to more formal ‘strategic alliances’ that focus on a commercial outcome such as a joint venture to win a large contract.  Networks are good for individual businesses and they assist to develop regional economic growth as well. 

 

Brief on Business Networks

 

The Small Business Development Corporation of NSW, an advisory body to the Minister for Small Businesss recognises the benefits that networking opportunities can bring to NSW businesses.  The Corporation developed a booklet "Brief on Business Networks"  which explains what is a business network, how business networks can operate, how to manage and support a network, the circumstances in which they work well, the approach in putting one together and information on the Department’s current Business Network assistance.
