From 1 September 2003, under changes to NSW occupational health and safety (OHS) laws, owners and operators of businesses with 20 workers or less are required to identify foreseeable workplace hazards, assess the risk of harm from those hazards, then eliminate or control the risks.
The Small Business Assistance Strategy allows small businesses access to information, advice, workshops and seminars to assist them to meet their OH&S obligations.

WorkCover NSW provides a range of publications free of charge or for a small fee. A number of the publications contain industry recommended action or information relating to occupational health and safety, injury management or workers compensation. A network of WorkCover-accredited trainers is available to provide training to assist in increasing the skills and knowledge of managers and employees. WorkCover-accredited trainers provide industry-specific OHS-accredited training courses developed by WorkCover.

To obtain the services of OHS-accredited training you may contract the services of existing WorkCover NSW Accredited Trainers to deliver training in one or more of the above areas. A list of all WorkCover-accredited trainers is available on the WorkCover website at www.workcover.nsw.gov.au.
Alternatively, you may utilise the services of an appropriately qualified employee of your organisation who has WorkCover accreditation.
