Lawlex is a free, online legislation research tool which will search for any piece of Commonwealth, State or Territory legislation.  It is updated daily.

The Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) provides free internet access to Australian legal materials.  It is jointly operated by the University of NSW and the University of Technology, Sydney.  AustLII publishes public legal information - that is, primary legal materials (legislation, treaties and decisions of courts and tribunals);  and secondary legal materials created by public bodies for purposes of public access (law reform and royal commission reports, for example).  AustLII also provides a large index of other legal websites from around the world, which is fully searchable and well organised.

Findlaw Australia provides a host of services and features for the small business market, including a list of practical legal articles which are continually growing.  There is also access to legislation and a directory of lawyers, listed by their location and area of practice.  Importantly, all this information is freely available.

AussieLegal is a free online legal information and law firm referral service.  It covers over 120 legal topics, including Companies & Trusts, Commercial Tenancies, Financial Matters, Employment Law, Family Law and Wills & Estates.  Information is provided and maintained by leading commercial and consumer law firms around Australia.  The information is written in plain English and averages three to six pages per topic.

This is a free service providing a single point of access to legal and related assistance services in NSW.  The service was established as a co-operative industry/Government/community service to provide a centralised and co-ordinated approach to linking consumers to appropriate legal assistance services.  LawAccess NSW is a business centre of the NSW Attorney General's Department.

The Workplace Surveillance Act 2005 prohibits the surveillance by employers of their employees at work except where employees have been given notice or where the employer has a covert surveillance authority.  The Act can be viewed at the Parlimentary Counsel's Office link above.
