Securing Our Manufacturing Future:   Small Business Manufacturing to 2015 and Beyond

Manufacturing is the third largest sector in New South Wales in terms of employment (after Retail Trade and Property and Business Services).  The sector provides employment for 291,600 people in the State, with just over 30% of those being in small manufacturing firms.

Securing Our Manufacturing Future: Small Business Manufacturing to 2015 and Beyond was commissioned by the New South Wales Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) and prepared by Howard Partners Pty Ltd together with the Australian Centre for Innovation and International Competitiveness.  The report provides input to the Corporation’s development of advice to the New South Wales Government on issues for the manufacturing sector and possible strategies to encourage the development of a competitive and sustainable small firm manufacturing sector in the State over the coming 15 years.

The Corporation will be seeking further views from the manufacturing community prior to putting recommendations to the New South Wales Government.

The Small Business Development Corporation is a statutory advisory body established to provide the New South Wales Government with advice on business issues and concerns from a small business perspective.
